I just picked some lemons off of the tall lemon tree (not the Meyer) last night so we can enjoy them this weekend.Erin Colcord, LChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00409012694123209546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5237166192130438551.post-11433146050472304872011-11-01T21:19:50.653-07:002011-11-01T21:19:50.653-07:00Packaging drives me crazy, but what I find even wo...Packaging drives me crazy, but what I find even worse is the mass-consumption buying that stores like Costco encourage. People cannot consume the quantities we buy so a lot of it goes bad and gets tossed. One terrific thing about having chickens is that they're omnivores- so they consume all of the food scraps and turn them into eggs!Webster Colcordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15209827355535918744noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5237166192130438551.post-79089006614025499022011-11-01T21:00:44.227-07:002011-11-01T21:00:44.227-07:00And fresh lemonade is sooo goooooodAnd fresh lemonade is sooo goooooodWebster Colcordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15209827355535918744noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5237166192130438551.post-45207275522797559962011-10-31T10:03:41.975-07:002011-10-31T10:03:41.975-07:00That's a good point, Jon. Based on your numbers it's now more than 90%.

Regarding the Prius - keep in mind that it takes something like the equivalant of 90 barrels of oil to manufacture a new car. I did a calculation a couple of years ago that showed one would have to drive a new car getting twice the gas milage for roughly ten years to break even with the carbon footprint of driving a used car getting only half the gas milage. This is considering 12,000 miles of driving per year. If you drive less, then the break-even ponint is even further away. There's a myth in capitalist economies that being "green" means buying "green products" to encourage consumer spending. This is often not true.jonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05274119502072081107noreply@blogger.com
